SUCCESS STORY #2: EADCO GmbH – We focus on Innovation
Promoting the use of bio-based materials like flax and hemp for structural applications for the green-aerospace sector.
Shaping the future together with its partners and customers
“EADCO GmbH was established in 2006 by a group of aerospace specialists who obtained their extensive expertise with many years of involvement in international aeronautical projects” introduced Rosario De Luca, EADCO’s CEO. “Our engineering, management services and consultancy portfolio covers all project phases. From the initial conception up to the certification support”.
EADCO Gmbh is currently a privately owned company based in Munich – Bavaria. For the last 14 years, the company has been cooperating with well-known OEMs establishing successful relationships, including AIRBUS Group, Premium AEROTEC, ArianeGroup, RUAG, COMAC, SABCA, Bombardier, Dornier 328 and Dornier Seawings. EADCO offer a range of global services and solutions including Management and Engineering. The company has also a strong experience related to the development and integration of aircraft components with high expertise in using composite materials. Additionally, EADCO invests a lot in R&D and marketing to developp and sell innovative technologies for electric powered aircraft. Still, the company is always bearing in mind its core conviction: “green-energy electric propulsion”.
Innovation at EADCO
The company is constantly striving to add innovation to its core business. The twin-engine electric aircraft design is based on the SCYLAX GmbH concept developed by EADCO GmbH and Elektra Solar GmbH. Several years ago in Munich, Elektra Solar CEO, Calin Gologahe, conceived the first vision of electric flight. Two years later in early 2011, Elektra One, an all-electric leisure aviation light aircraft took off. In the past few years, Calin Gologan and EADCO CEO Rosario De Luca were engaged with the conception and development of the electric commercial aircraft E6 and E10, supported by the amazing experience of Elektra Solar GmbH official spin-off of the DLR (German Aerospace Center).
Why taking part in the SSUCHY Project?
EADCO is glad to be active part of a such valuable international research project like SSUCHY . By doing so, the company wants to move forward to reach the planned milestones together with the partners. “Within the SSUCHY project, we aim to realise the best applications of bio-based materials for the aerospace sector” – added the CEO.
For decades, aircrafts power relied on fossil fuels and traditional materials for construction. In the last ten years, major advances in bio-materials, battery technology and advanced electrical propulsion and systems are holding out the promise of cleaner and cheaper commercial flights. “Using the fram of the SCYLAX E10 project, EADCO is willing to replace some parts of the aircraft designed mainly with CFC (Carbon Fiber Composite) through bio-based materials like flax/hemp. The company already identified different application considering bio-materials. Thus, together with the SSUCHY partners, we successfully built a first Cockpit Dashboard made of flax. Next step, a first Cockpit Dashboard made of hemp!” – explained Rosario De Luca.
“Through the SSUCHY project, EADCO targets the introduction of innovative and environmentally friendly aircraft bio -based parts into the market. Such ambition perfectly fits with the commercialization of advanced technologies for green all-electric aircraft such as the SCYLAX E10”- concluded Rosario De Luca.
